Court reinstates People Power candidate in Gulu University guild race

High Court in Gulu on Friday reinstated Mr Imuran Ntambazi, a people power candidate to the Gulu University guild president race.

Last month, Gulu University authorities blocked Ntambazi from participating in the guild race for associating with Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.

However, on March 29, 2019, Mr Imuran Ntambazi and his group went to court accusing the university for using the university electoral commission to block him from being nominated for the guild race without justifiable reasons.

The university’s electoral commission returning officer, Mr Edmond Okello blocked Mr Natmbazi saying he had been advised by the university’s dean of students not to nominate him.

Mr Ntambazi was blocked on allegations that he was not a fully registered student of Gulu University when he showed up for the nomination.

Mr Ntambazi, 21, is a second year student of Bachelor of Science in Computer.

On Thursday, the deputy court registra mediated the session between Gulu University and Mr Ntambazi and resolved to allow him back to guild race.

Ntambazi was however ordered to stop practicing people power politics inside the university.

The polling date has been pushed to April 13 to allow Ntaba do campaigns.
